Flippin' February

So, yeah, it' s been a month since I've blogged. What can I say? It's that time again. There's a time every year when all I want to do is hibernate...and that time is called February. Between the unfavorable weather, lack of daylight, 5 million papers to grade, report cards to complete, conferences to hold, and the impending Singles Awareness Day, I just want to crawl under the covers until March.

But not this year. This year is different.
Yes, the above-mentioned atrocities are still in play. But I don't even care. 'Cause this year, I am going...to be an aunt!

So rather than hibernate, I'd like to just go ahead and fast forward to July 29th when my little McNugget is expected to arrive!

I could not be happier for Micah and Kate to become parents, for Mom and Dad to become grandparents, and for Jill and I to become aunts! I am already on the onesie hunt and am welcoming any advice from those of you who are already aunts or uncles.

At first I thought that it was a girl, but now I am leaning towards boy. It really doesn't matter to me though...I love him or her already! We will find out the first week of March for sure!

Check out Kate's blog for a precious video all about our little baby-on-the-way: http://www.southerndwellings.blogspot.com/
Be sure to laugh it up when you hear me feel the need to clarify whether Micah and Kate are welcoming a real baby or another dog.

Speaking of dogs, Kate says that this will be Pete after dealing with a new baby:

Micah, on the other hand, says that he and Pete had a talk, and he is ready and excited to be a big brother.
If there was one word I could use to describe this picture, it would definitely be 'ready'.

So yeah, this year instead of flippin' the bird to February, I'm flippin' for joy at the prospect of holding my new niece or nephew in my arms in the coming months.
Aunt Jackie has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

  1. Jacks, take it from someone who REALLY KNOWS that loving your nieces and nephews is a great thing! They love you back unconditionally and because it is not an everyday responsibility you can spoil them, you have patience with them and you are as proud of them as their parents are. So, get ready to enjoy your new niece/nephew, and I'll look forward to my new GREAT niece/nephew.
